My fun tag

Here is my version of a tag by Shannon Sawyer I saw in Stampers Sampler Aug/Sept 2010. What a great issue. I admire Shannon's work. There is also some great art by Barbara Smith, and Nancy Gene Armstrong. Barbara made front cover..that's is neat.

My newest tag book

Just finished this tag book for my friend Debby H. I hope she likes it.

Dream a little creativity canvas

I've been itching to try my hand at a little mixed media canvas. It was really fun to put it together. I got the similar idea in a magazine from the UK and the artist is Linda Elbourne. I hope she doesn't mind my take on her canvas. I'm calling mine Life-Create a Dream. I was thinking about all the things that pull you along in your life. Time, a compus, locks and keys, nature all crowns you in your journey in life. Make your dreams come true. Don't be afraid to venture out and enjoy the journey.

The canvas was painted with different colours of red in acrylics. Grungepaper was embossed with different styles and cut in 2" squares and coloured with Tim Holtz Distressed inks using Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick. All embellishments came from stash.

Black and White Tag

The 2nd Black and White tag for the tag swap. I love black and white...always so striking.

Last of the Zentange Swap

The coloured one is by Dee R. There is even some bling on it that you really can't see in the photo. The others are from Sara M. I love the backgammon looking one. This was a great swap on the group "Art For The Creative Mind" I think everyone had fun with these. It was new to most players. That's a good thing. It brings out your creativity to learn knew things and not be afraid to put that first foot forward into the unknown.

Bird card I received

Here is a wonderful mixed media card I received from Bambi in a swap. Bambi printed the bird and branches on fabric. She then blocked out the background with molding paste and paint. Then this piece was sewn onto more fabric. Thread was glued to the piece to look like a bush or grassy parts. The envelope was also brillantly altered with all kinds of stamps and inks. I just love it. Thanks Bambi.

A few more Zentangles

Just a couple more. I noticed after I loaded them that you can still see my start mark. I usually draw in the basic outline with pencil. Then have fun filling in the areas. I hope my partners like them.

Zentangle or just plain doodling

Doodling is fun. If you haven't tried it, you should. It's a great stress release. You can do it while watching tv or while you are on the phone. These are for a swap on the group "Art For the Creative Mind".

My Handsome Men ATCs

With these atcs I tried my hand at soot or smoke stamping. I held 8.5x11 cardstock over a candle flame that is smoky. Moved it around until I got a marble affect on the paper. You don't have to be so close to the flame, just enough for the smoke to spread out over the paper. On one atc I stamp the image of these two men right into the smoked area and it gave it a negative image. The other one, I stamped the same image using a grey Stampin'Up Classic Ink pad. I sprayed both with a fixature to seal the smoke to keep it from smudging. Then I embellished them. Enjoy

Just for today

I'm hoping to be able to get back to doing the blog challenges next week. I miss them. They are so fun to do and you meet so many nice people along the way. Today I'm going to work on some cards that I need for June and July birthdays. I don't post them here. I post them on my other blog Art For the Creative Mind. This computer keeps me on too long. I need to go and do some creating now. Hope to have something to show by the end of the day. I also should be working on the Susi Blu workshop I signed up last month. I just can'ts seem to get started. Step one: Get out your journal and pencil. Have a great creative day.

Well I'm back home. Not quite in my studio yet though. Still have some work to do in there to get things back to where they should be. We had a great holiday in Branson, Missouri. If you haven't been there, check it out. We saw so many great live shows, dinner cruise, dinner shows and lots of great food. The shows were lively, fun and they were not crude or rude. Just clean enjoyment. I recommend it and we will definitely go there again. Now it's time for me to get out my paper and glue and start playing. I've miss everyone out there in blog land.

Tag Book Pages

This is the project I've been working on. We were given 6 large tags. The theme was 'grunge' and we were to embellish it as we desired. I hope my partner likes it.
I taped the tags together to make it an accordian fold. I really didn't have a theme in mind. I just took each page and followed my thoughts and whisperings. Each page is distressed in some way either with paint or inks. I added pockets for more tags. Then I just embellished it with whatever came to mind. From stickers, to metal parts, scrabble tiles, fibers and buttons. The book just became an art piece, each page a place to explore.
I hope you like it.

My latest project

Are you watching?

I hate to disappoint all my followers by not posting much of anything lately. Every week I make a list of all the blog challenges with hope to create for them and also do the swaps I've signed up for, then I sit and stare at the table, stare all all my supplies, tools, paper etc...and just dream. My studio is getting the floor painted on Saturday so all the shelving units are pushed to one side of the room. I'm feeling closed in, or I should say boxed in. lol Oh...that's an excuse really because my work table is still clear enough to work on.
One of these days all will be back together and I'll feel more like creating. I'm thinking of taking an online art class. I think that will spur me on.
Have a great creative day. See you all soon.
